Drone Cleaning Franchises: Questions to Ask

Some drone cleaning brands sell franchises. This page explains the federal disclosure rules and the questions to ask. It makes no income claims and is not legal or financial advice.

Updated October 1, 2026 · Soar-n-Wash is a directory, not a cleaning company. Informational only; no income claims.

Franchise vs independent

A franchise typically comes with a brand, training, and a set system, in exchange for fees and a contract with obligations. An independent operator picks their own equipment and brand without franchise fees, but builds everything themselves. The right choice depends on your situation.

DroneWash+ is one drone cleaning brand that offers franchises. There may be others; compare carefully.

The FTC Franchise Rule

  • Franchisors must give you their Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) at least 14 calendar days before you sign a binding agreement or pay them.
  • Franchisors aren't required to make earnings claims. If they make any, the claims must be in Item 19 of the FDD.
  • The FTC says earnings claims made outside the FDD are a red flag.

Questions to ask the franchisor

  • What are all the fees: initial, royalty, marketing, technology, and equipment?
  • What equipment must I buy, and from whom?
  • What training covers FAA certification, insurance, and chemical application?
  • What territory do I get, and how is it protected?
  • What happens if I want to sell, renew, or leave?

Questions to ask current and former franchisees

The FDD lists current and former franchisees you can contact.

  • Was the FDD accurate about costs and support?
  • What costs surprised you?
  • How responsive is the franchisor when something goes wrong?
  • Would you buy again?

Get independent review

Have a franchise attorney and an accountant review the FDD and agreement before you sign. Whatever you choose, you will still need FAA certification and insurance.

Drone cleaning operators need FAA authorization; chemical spraying may fall under Part 137. Ask your operator for their certifications.
